- Players: 2-6
- Age: 5+
- Time: 30-60 minutes
Gameplay
Set up
- Give each player a life counter
- Place the damage tracker in the middle
- Remove the FIREBALL cards from the deck and give every wizard 2 cards at random.
- Put the FIREBALL cards back in the deck, shuffle it and place it in the middle.
Playing the game
During your turn simply draw a card. If it’s not a FIREBALL card place it in your hand and your turn ends. It is then the turn of the player on your left.
(There is a hand limit of 5 cards, so if you have more than 5 cards in hand at the end of your turn simply discard one card)
If you draw a FIREBALL card you have to play it immediately:
- Place the card down and put the damage counter to 1
- Pick a target for your fireball.
The target of the fireball then plays a card from their hand to redirect the fireball at another wizard.
Players pass the fireball back and forth until one of the following situations happens:
- Somebody has no cards left in their hand (they take the total damage of the fireball)
- Somebody plays the TAKE COVER card (they take damage equal to the fireball damage -5)
- Somebody plays the COUNTERSPELL card (no damage is taken)
The wizard who took the damage then draws two cards to start a new round.
Special Rules
- Take damage on purpose
If you don’t want to play any of the cards in your hand you can choose to take the damage. If you do this, you only draw 1 card to start the next round.
- Overcharged
If a you happen to start a new round by drawing 2 FIREBALL cards you pick one target but set the damage tracker to 5.
- Player Death
When a wizard dies, the remaining wizards draw a card from the deck.
All wizards take damage equal to the total amount of FIREBALL cards that have been drawn this way.
The FIREBALL cards are then discarded and a new round starts.
If this damage kills another wizard, the process is repeated.
End of the game
The game ends when only one wizard remains. This person wins the game and can call themselves the mightiest wizard in the land.
